JOHANNA JUHOLA (born 1978) graduated as Master of Music from the Sibelius Academy folk music department in 2008, with accordion as her main instrument. Her other instruments are claviola, accordina and toy grand piano.
Juhola has composed music for several dance, theater and circus performances in theaters such as the Swedish Theater in Helsinki, for Zodiak - the center for new dance, for modern circus groups Circo Aereo and Med Andra Ord, for Dance Group Tsuumi and for many project-based working groups. In addition to this she has also composed music to movie and television fiction and also music e.g. for the opening number of Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki 2007.
Juhola plays in the following bands: Kraft, Troka, Las Chicas del Tango, Spontaani Vire, Johanna Juhola Reaktori, Johanna Juhola Trio, Timo Alakotila & Johanna Juhola Duo ja Duo Milla Viljamaa & Johanna Juhola. She also composes music for all her ensembles. Johanna Juhola has performed all over the world including countries such as Japan, China, Argentina, the United States and Canada to name a few outside Europe.
Johanna Juhola has won the International Astor Piazzolla Competition in 2000 with Novjaro Quintet and the International "Citta di Castelfidardo" award, Astor Piazzolla music section as Duo Milla Viljamaa & Johanna Juhola in 2002.
Johanna Juhola's debut solo album "Miette" (Texicalli) was released spring 2006.
